PPCA National Enforcement Program - Update on Restaurant & Cafe Enforcement
In 2009, PPCA reviewed the structure of tariff R and implemented a new tariff for restaurants and cafes effective from 1 December 2009. As a result of the new fee structure, some of PPCA’s restaurants and cafes licensees have cancelled their PPCA licences and have advised us they will refrain from playing protected sound recordings on their premises in the future. PPCA is placing these restaurants and cafes onto the National Enforcement Program for inspection to ensure they are not infringing copyright by continuing to play protected sound recordings without the requisite licence. Please note, PPCA has found instances where protected sound recordings are being still being played without a licence and is taking the appropriate course of action in these circumstances.
