Most Broadcast Artist & Recording 2003
Kylie Minogue &Amp; Taxiride To Be Honoured With Ppca's 2003 Most Broadcast Australian Artist And Recording Awards
KYLIE MINOGUE is the recipient of the PPCA Most Broadcast Australian Recording Artist Award for 2003 [1] . This is the second consecutive year that Kylie has accomplished the outstanding achievement. In both the 2002 and 2003 periods Kylie Minogue was the most broadcast artist overall on Australian radio up against local and international recordings. This indicates the wide appeal that Kylie has to her Australian radio audience after an already long and successful career that continues with her latest and ninth album 'Body Language'.
Melbourne band TAXIRIDE has achieved the Most Broadcast Australian Recording Award for 2003 [2] with their hit single "Creepin' Up Slowly" from their second album "Garage Mahal". This is the second time Taxiride has been the recipient of this award. The band received their first PPCA award in 2000 for their single "Everywhere You Go" which came in at the number two position on the most broadcast list (just behind "Smooth" by Santana). This year "Creepin' Up Slowly" is the most broadcast recording overall on Australian radio against local and international recordings. Both these positions indicate the enormous appeal that Taxiride has to Australian radio audiences.
The uniqueness of these PPCA awards is that they are based on factual results - not on voting or popularity or chart success or sales. The results are taken from extensive radio playlists collated by PPCA for both local and international recording artists.
"This is a great result for both Taxiride and Kylie Minogue. The fact that two local artists have won this year's awards is indicative of the strength of the local industry and a fantastic achievement" said Shaun James, Chairman, PPCA.
PPCA congratulates Kylie and her Australian record label, Festival Mushroom Records, and Taxiride and their record label, Warner Music, on their outstanding broadcasting achievements.
