New PPCA Chairman appointed
The artist and record company members of the Phonographic Performance Company of Australia (PPCA) are pleased to announce the appointment of Shaun James as the new Chairman of PPCA for the balance of 2003 following the recent resignation of Peter Bond (formerly Chairman and ANZA Regional President of Universal Music).
Mr James said today, "I am very pleased to be given the opportunity to take on the role of Chairman of PPCA and welcome the support of my fellow Board members. PPCA plays an important role in the collection and distribution of licence fees to record companies and registered Australian recording artists and I look forward to continuing the excellent work of my predecessor, Peter Bond, in this area".
PPCA's Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Peach, welcomes the appointment of Mr James, "I am sure I speak on behalf of the entire Board in saying that Mr James will make an outstanding Chairman for PPCA. He has had a long association with the music industry and is very familiar with the history and operations of PPCA and the issues which confront it".
The full composition of the Board is:
Shaun James - PPCA Chairman (Warner Music Australia ), Denis Handlin (Sony Music Entertainment Aust.), Ed St John (BMG Australia ), George Ash (Universal Music Australia ), Louis Calleja (EMI Music Australia ), Libby Blakey (Festival Mushroom Records), Lindy Morrison and Greg Macainsh (Artist Representatives) and Michael McMartin (Manager Representative).
