By now you might have seen the Radio Fair Play information and petition we’ve been sharing, calling for a change to the Copyright Act to ensure artists and rights holders are paid fairly for recordings broadcast on radio. Music industry representatives including PPCA’s first artist Chair Josh Pyke and artist KLP, walked the halls of Parliament House last week to meet with members of Government and Parliament to advocate for this change. Sound Recording Grant Recipients

PPCA and the Australia Council for the Arts announced the latest recipients of their partnership program this week. Ten new recipients will each receive a $15,000 grant, to assist with the creation of new sound recordings. This is the tenth round of grants that have been provided since PPCA and the Australia Council for the Arts first partnered in 2013, which to date, has provided $975k in creative grants to Australian musicians. PPCA proudly presents the AIR Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year, which includes PPCA registered nominees Jem Cassar-Daley, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers and Wanderers! If you want to be included in this year’s round of direct artist payments, you need to be registered by 31 August. You need to register each track that you release. No need to wait until August 31, you can register them each time they become available
